Although it is the gateway to Lake Matsubara, it is not a conspicuous station because it is located a little below Route 141. Lake Matsubara is a tourist destination, though.

There is an inseparable edge between the Koumi Line and the Chikuma River. On the north side of the Shinano Kawakami Station, the Koumi Line tracks are laid along the Chikuma River. Not only along the river, but crosses the Chikuma River seven times. Due to the flooding of No. 1, the Chikuma River has been damaged and the Koumi Line has also been disconnected. I am worried about high school students who are going to train. I'm sure it's a beautiful Chikuma River scenery, and I hope that the day when the engine sound of the car will resonate will come.

It takes time for customers who try to get off at Suica to settle (it seems to be troublesome to write a disembarkation certificate for each)

There are many people who do not know because the station building is located quite down from the national highway. The JR Koumi Line is an indispensable route for attending high school along the line, and some students go to Saku City for more than an hour and a half from Nobeyama Station, the southernmost part of the school district. Although it is a single-line local line, half a century ago, an SL-C62 locomotive called "Pony of the Highlands" drew passenger cars. Even today, the temporary sightseeing train "HIGHRAIL1375 Hirail Hitomigou" is going back and forth between Komoro and Kobuchizawa. From Matsubarako Station to "Matsubara Lake", we recommend you to use a bus, as you will have to climb a hill with a difference in elevation (approximately 1 hour on foot). There are many other cute station buildings along the Koumi Line. The "Shinkansen" also connects you to the "Shinkansen", so you can take a full day trip from the city center via Kobuchizawa via the Chuo Line. I am a "drinking iron" on a train trip, so I feel a little embarrassed when I go to school on weekdays, but the train window on the Koumi Line is perfect for drinking. Maybe I'll ride on it.
