Bomun-in was built at the current position when it was around the time when Date was the owner of Yonezawa Castle, so it was about 450 years ago.
Since it is the entrance to Yonezawa from Fukushima across the Itaya Pass, it is said that it was a temple that was also used by the daimyo during the Edo period.
I think that the first episode of Bomun-in is that the famous Uesugi Takayama, the famous founder of the Uesugi family of the Yonezawa clan, welcomed his teacher, Kiyoshu Hosoi, here.
The temple area is designated as a national historic site, and there are "a statue of the reunion of Takayama and Cheongju", a monument of every tear (a "monument that tears the reunion"), and so on.
At the time of the visit, the main hall was undergoing renovation work. It was said that it will take several years, but I would definitely like to revisit it. The precincts are located at the foot of the mountain, so it is quiet and rustic.
Zenmon-in built in 853 AD. History is deep
This is the place where Uesugi Takayama welcomed his teacher Hosoi Hirashu. You can feel the spirit of respecting your teacher.
I came to get a red seal. However, worship was not possible due to the renovation of the main hall. It is said that the book of Goshushi is closed during the winter season. I will go again in spring.
Fumon-in is like a burial mound established in 853 AD. The history is old but the architecture feels new. The main hall was a simple and elegant building.
It is also the place where Uesugi Kiriyama met a teacher.
