Tsugaoka Station (Azalea) is a station on the East Japan Passenger Railway (JR East) Sengoku Line located at Tsujioka 5-chome, Miyagi-no-ku, Sendai-shi, Miyagi Prefecture. When Miyagi Electric Railway, the predecessor of the Sengoku Line, opened from Sendai Station to Nishi-Shiokama Station in 1925 (Taisho 14), Shigaoka Station also opened simultaneously. At this time, the station was located at Miyagi-gunharamachi, and the station facilities were near the border between Haramachi and Sendai City. Haramachi was incorporated into Sendai City along with Natori-gun Nagamachi in 1928 (Showa 3), and Kugaoka Station became a station in Sendai City. Currently Kasumigaoka Station is one station next to Sendai Station, but until 1952 (Showa 27) there was Sendai East Exit Station between Sendai Station and Kasumigaoka Station
