Undoubtedly the most useless consulate in the world. If you have a question, good luck to you! I tried to call them. Their automatic answering does not have any specific/useful information, and you can’t get through to an operator. When I sent an email I did get a reply that was just redirecting Me to a different service and not Answering my question. Can we save taxpayers money and downsize this pretty useless institution?

I thought the British Embassy in Tokyo would be taking care of Mr and Mrs Abel on the diamond cruise liner I'm pretty sure that things will will be sorted out but just for the interim some clarity would be beneficial to everyone included

It's used to be more welcoming 10 years ago, when all you needed to do was show your British passport and could get in to the area where you could inquire and make applications, but now you need to have prior official access and booked session, but they don't have a phone line or a very good online access to info, I don't really think it needs to be this strict, what do they think people are going to do? Ask a question! Oh no! A Embassy should be there to help people and British citizens with visa applications and info, Not turn you away at the gate, it is never busy there now, just looks like a closed British museum.

Refused to help a disabled person who had lost her passport, while being rude the whole time

Please consider other methods so that applicants can apply for UK visa more efficient and faster. The Visa Application Center in Shibashi is too slow and require long visa processing time. Most of countries employ really fascinating services now: -China: Priority service: 1 day, normal travel visa: 4 days. -Germany: Within 1-week for normal travel visa. Even Australia, where similar to UK in terms they do not have visa processing center in Tokyo: the documents can be sent via mail to Seoul for Visa process and results will be informed by email, which really fast and amazing. I can not imagine the UK visa processing service, how slow and “stubborn” it is. What the Visa Application Center in Shinbashi can do is proposing additional service and collect money from that. I apply for “Keep my passport” service, it eventually led to 1-week of extension in processing time (which is originally long enough). I had to come back with my passport when visa result was arrived and they collected then sent it to Malina again. I can not imagine such process is required to paste 1-page of visa on passport, event when the visa result is determined. Please please please improve your visa application method.
