Komatsu Shigekatsu (09/18/2020)
Built in the 14th year of Genroku (1701), it is the oldest existing building along with Komei-do in the precincts. With a hakama waist, it features gorgeous and gorgeous colors. There is no material on the sculpture and it is not clear, but it is probably the work of the second generation of Shimamura style, Yuan Tetsu. The hanging Bonsho was cast in 1968 by the living national treasure Masahiko Katori (known for the Enkeiji Bonsho and the Hiroshima Peace Bell). The height is 180 cm, the caliber is 90 cm, and the weight is 1068 kg. The former Bonsho has been relocated to the forehead hall, which is said to have been cast at the end of the Edo period (weight 913 kg). There was also a Bonsho before that, but it was offered in accordance with the metal recovery order during the war (casting in 1636). By the way, no automatic bell-beating machine has been introduced at Shinshoji Temple, and it is still being ringed by human hands. At 5:30 in the morning, 6:00 in the winter, 18:00 in the summer and 17:00 in the winter, we interact with the small bell of Daishido. It sounds at 12:00 in the daytime, and the 13th stop is entered instead of the 12th.

It is said to be the oldest building in the precincts and was erected in Genroku 14 (1701). It is quite luxurious for a "bell tower". The staff pokes the bell and tells the time three times a day, morning, noon, and evening. It is said that the bell of the bell tower was cast by Masahiko Katori (human national treasure) in 1968.
