This temple is probably the biggest Buddhist temple in Kyoto. Unfortunately at January 2018, it was completely covered by bends due to restauration works on it. :(
Bando 33 places, 32nd bill place.
There is a parking lot below, but if you can climb a steep slope, there is also a parking lot at the gate. It's a pretty steep slope, so be careful of cars with low heights ...?
Go through the mountain gate and climb the stairs to reach the main hall. It looks wide and has a surprisingly compact impression.
Even so, it is a hall where you can feel the history as a whole, including the main hall. The reason is that there are commemorative photos of old worshipers all over the place, and I wondered if they have come to Zenkoji for a long time or as part of that. Not only in the Showa era, but also in the Meiji era, it was fun to look at it. (Whether it's a memorial to worship or a wish ... I found a business card in the hall with a drawing ... Even though it's NG to paste it, it says "painting" ...)
Following Kasamori Kannon, I was able to poke a bell here as well, and this was also a pretty good bell sound. A powerful and stretchy sound.
There is a toilet in the parking lot below. It is a Japanese style. There is also a wheelchair-accessible restroom.
I visited the Bando Fudasho tour,
Chiba is an unexpectedly deep mountain, isn't it?
Thinking about it, park your car in the parking lot with a toilet on the side of the road and climb the mountain road. Parking lot above (in front of Niomon)! Go through the four heavenly gates and go up the stairs to the Hyakutai Kannon-do, the Kannon-do, the bell tower, and the main hall, Senju Kanze Bodhisattva, and look up at the pillars and structures! Many old pilgrims' votive tablets (woodblock prints of pilgrims)! You can go out by car now, but it's a valuable experience when you think you've walked to various places in the past. This is worth a look! Gassho.
There was a vermilion four heaven gate in front of the main hall. In addition, many votive tablets were dedicated in the main hall, and a picture of a dragon was written on the ceiling near the center. It was a very quiet temple.
It has the exact same name as Kiyomizu Temple in Kyoto.
After passing the Niomon gate, there is Shitenmon. At Shitenmon, a statue of the wind god Raijin is enshrined.
After passing through Shiten, there is Okuindo on your left, and the eleven-faced Kannon is enshrined.
To the right is the Hyakunkan Kannon, which enshrines the Kannon of the main deity of the 33 places of Nishigoku, 33 places of Bando and 34 places of Chichibu.
If you go up from here, you will find the main hall.
The deity of priest enshrined here is the Senju Kanzeon Bodhisattva.
I think it is unusual for a temple to enshrine two Kannons, the eleven-faced Kannon and the Senju Kanzeon.
In front of the main hall is the Chihiro Pond, which is the same as Kiyomizu-dera Temple in Kyoto, but the size is quite small.
