Woji/Anapji pond was also the site of a palace. They've rebuilt a couple of the pagodas, which gives you a great feel for how it would have looked. You can also see the outline of the old buildings and appreciate the scale. The largest pagoda also includes some museum displays and a GIANT model of what the palace would have looked like. It's a beautiful park in general, but it's also a great way to see the scale and grandeur that used to be there. It's also a good stop if you're walking from the Tombs to the Observatory to the National Museum.
It is also known as Anapji Pond I've visited this place at night during the spring. It's so romantic with the light-up and all. There are a lot of couples visit this place together. Apart from the romantic vibe, the place itself is beautiful. The reflections in the water makes this place looks more stunning.
You should not miss this place if you're visiting Gyeongju. I would love to go back again.
Though most of the old palace no longer exist, some of the buildings have been reconstructed in the last 30-40 years around a beautiful pond and park grounds.
From the pictures, I expected a large palace; however, the grounds are much smaller and scarce than i imagined.
Still a decent place to relax and enjoy a walk.
i would suggest anyone to visit during night , may be in winter, this is the best during that season , loved it , I am so impressed to visit the Gyeongju Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond, especially at night it is so beautiful. This place is well preserved the history and construction since it was a secondary palace used by the crown prince of the Silla Kingdom. It also served as a banquet site for important national events and important visitors.
Made me acknowledge that Shilla landscape designers were top notch. Nice place stroll in the evening. The pond was gorgeous.
