Embassy of Canada to Korea

Just left the embassy, I was there to drop off my application to renew my passport. The first few people I interacted with were completely lovely. However, the lady who was actually going over my application with me was passive aggressive and condescending. Having been out of Canada for over a year, it was so lovely at first to even be in a building that resembled the ones back home, but the experience left a sour taste in my mouth.

Nice building but slow and unkind working process like other Canadian government workers do. When I ask about taxation for Canadian living abroad, they said I have to find it out by myself and they emailed me back with just a Canadian government website which all Canadians know. When I asked some taxation for foreigners to South Korean government, they said they would find it out and then called me back in 10 mins with the explanations in details. Funny thing is that I am a Canadian.

I would give zero stars if i could.. I ALWAYS have to go to the location in person as I have never been able to get anyone there to answer the phone. One time when I arrived there, the security guard blocked my entry and she gave me a number to call instead. Another time the guard stopped me to ask what I'm doing there and let me pass after he couldn't answer any of my questions (big surprise!). Inside, the receptionist is sipping her coffee and explaining to me and an otherwise empty room that they were too busy to answer the phone. The service here is terrible; the staff is so lazy and inefficient that they may even make government workers back in Canada look good.

Book your appointment in advance! This can be done online. You can't just walk in and ask for assistance any more. Also keep in mind that they only work from 9am-11:30am(Mon thru Fri)
