Well maintained for once very powerful Queen 文定. Both guides were very well trained.

Tomb is fronted by an excellently designed museum, though very little in English (but some!) - very welcoming to me as a foreign tourist. I felt like not many foreigners go to the tombs, which is unfortunate.

There is an exhibition hall of the Joseon Royal Tombs (discontinued due to Corona 19) There is a promenade and the tomb appears in 3 to 5 minutes walk. Like the power of Queen Moonjeong, the stone statue looks a little bigger.

It is the tomb of Yun (1501-1565), Queen Munjeong, the second scribe of King Jungjong, the 11th king of the Joseon Dynasty (1501-1565). It was designated as Historic Site No. 201 on May 26, 1970 along with Gangneung, the tomb of Myeongjong and Queen Insun's Sim. Queen Moonjeong moved the Jeongneung (靖陵), which was next to Queen Janggyeong's tomb, to the side of Seolleung because the fengshui geography was bad. However, due to frequent flood damage due to the low area of the newly relocated Jeongneung, eventually it was not possible to be buried at the site and the wish to be buried next to Jungjong was not fulfilled. Taereung is an unbelievably magnificent tomb as the queen's Danneung, and it gives you an idea of how great the power of Queen Munjeong was at the time of its creation. 12 statues of earth and clouds were engraved on the 12-sided byeongpungseok surrounding the Byeongpungseok, and 12 Kanjis were inscribed in the center of the Manseok above the Byeongpungseok. There are 12 railings around the outside of the tomb, and a pair of upper and manganese stones are placed in front of the tomb. Two pairs of sunset and seokho were alternately arranged around the bongbun, and a gokjang was built in the back. At the lower end of the Bongbun, there are 1 pair of Muninseok and Seokma, and 1 pair of octagonal jangmyeong, and at the bottom end there is an unmanned stone and 1 pair of Seokma. Below the neungwon are Jeongjagak, Bigak, Sujikbang (守直房) and Hongsalmun.

The tomb of Queen Munjeong, which you saw in the history books, was so close... The forest road up to Gangneung was like a real hiking trail and it was good, but admission was limited to 17:00 (it seems to have been shorter in winter). Round trip takes 1 hour and 30 minutes.
