I have booked 2 weeks in this riad. Comfortable seated in the middle of the Bazar street. Surrounded by a maze of small narrow streets you didn't know you would love to travel by. Busy noisy filled with everything from pottery handbags belts salon soap spa's essential oils food clothing lamps practically every item that you never knew you needed. A mekka for a shopaholic of any size or type. Watch out now the prices are not fixed. Hope that you know how to haggle. The host makes you feel as if you are a part of the family. I really enjoyed myself. This is not a place for small children but a couple or singles like myself. The price are very fair.

After doing some research, we booked Riad Al Ralia for 5 nights for the very reasonable sum of £180. The online reviews and photographs were positive so myself and my wife departed England with great anticipation. On arrival in Marrakech, our taxi driver dropped us of relatively close to the Riad, where the owner Ibrahim was stood waiting for us. He greeted us and showed us the direction to the Riad, which is tucked away down some narrow back alleys away from the main road. Ibrahim seemed like a nice fellow and he kindly pulled my wife’s suitcase all the way. On arrival at the Riad, he made us a pot of mint tea and we sorted the payment for the room. Our room was on the 1st floor, up some narrow and winding steps. The room itself was clean and tidy, however it was very small. Suffice to say, the double-bed took-up 75% of the floor space. There was insufficient space to store our two suitcases hence we resorted to leaving them on the floor for the duration of our stay. I did ask Ibrahim if I could have a table of some kind however I was given a small stool instead. Our room had a very small tinted window as it’s only source of natural light hence we relied on the small lamps which made it difficult to see what one was doing most of the time. The bed itself was fine however there was an old dried blood stain on the bedsheet which was quite off-putting. This was eventually changed on request. The following morning we were served breakfast. This consisted of one pancake, a cupcake and a variety of jams/spreads and assorted bread. Our stay for the remainder of the four nights was ok. The wifi there only works on the top terrace which means you have to sit in the hot sun if you need to connect to it during the day. Ibrahim provided a complimentary 1.5l bottle of water on the first night and any others were charged at 15 Drihams each (£1.20). Ibrahim offered us his taxi service to various tourist hotspots (at a charge) however his prices were much higher than what others would charge. Prior to leaving, Ibrahim quoted us 150 Dirhams to book a taxi back to the airport. A quick enquiry in the square ourselves meant we were able to get this for 100 Dirhams, much to the displeasure of Ibrahim and consequently, this angered him and from that moment onwards, his demeanour changed to being uninterested and rude. To summarise, the hotel is cheap and clean however the rooms were very small and the owner wasn’t particularly nice.

The Riad is very well placed. The welcome really nice, they are listening to you needs and they will do everything to make your stay perfect! The Riad is very clean and there is a roof terrace if you want to rest from your day. I recommend you !!

Quarto limpo.
