Prior to arrival we emailed the resort numerous times to arrange airport pick-up and never received a response – On arrival at the airport there was no one from the resort to pick us up. The airport staff made phone calls to the resort which resulted in our ride arriving some twenty minutes later
We booked a ‘Beach Front Deluxe’ accommodation and were checked in to a well-worn room that was spacious but had seen better days and was in dire need of refurbishment. The washroom window was broken, a piece of broken glass missing allowing air and critters from the outside free access to the room – the solution when we complained was to cardboard up the window.
The internet is pathetic – there are numerous hot points; On connecting the speed & data transfer is either nil or times out making accessing so much as an email a task taking minutes or the connection fails. Management insists each day it is now fixed, yet there is no change. The gracious staff provided us with a hot spot off their personal cell phones allowing us to check & send email.
The staffs here are awesome salt of the earth, help full, friendly and accommodating. They assisted us with renting scooters and making sure they were charged each night which required that one scooter be transported back to the rental shop for charging.
The resort tends to cater to Burmese residents which take over the resort at the detriment of foreign guests. We observed a large party of some dozen guests arrive with cases of beer, & bottles of hard alcohol, who promptly took over the resort celebrating the honeymoon of one of the groups pairing.
We complained to the manager who insincerely acknowledged the problem but indicated he would do nothing. After numerous complaints we moved rooms to the farthest end of the resort to minimize the disturbance.
Late one night after we could not sleep due to excessive partying, we complained again to the security at the front desk who called the manager. The manager from his home made a call to the offending rooms and indicated that was all he could do when the resulting noise continued.
On the return trek to the room, my husband was surrounded by the now drunken guests upset he had complained and in front of two hotel security personal he was assaulted and pushed to the ground while security watched. Cooler heads by some of the group prevailed resulting in a de-escalation to the point that security brought us to the front desk and again the manager was called and informed of the assault.
The manager refused to call the police; The manager refused to acknowledge the assault even though his security personal were witness to the entire altercation. The manger refused assist us in moving to alternate accommodation and insisted that he could guarantee our safety if we would move to yet another room.
Concerned for our safety we packed our bags and contacted the Hilton down the road. Even though it was late at night, the Hilton was able to provide us with a room and transportation to their hotel.
While this resort is low end and in need of upgrading the price paid does reflect this and does provide some value for price paid. However, there is no value one can place on one’s safety and one’s safety in staying at this resort cannot be guaranteed!
Although we are still traumatized by the experience, we know it could have ended much worse and for that we are great full!
Crystal clear water
Absolutely beautiful views, great pool, good service. It is a bit far from the main strip, but I liked that and there were plenty of seafood restaurants within walking distance.
We have been coming here for years and will come back. The rooms are good, the staff warm and anyone looking for relaxation is in the right place here. Certainly there is room for improvement, but where is it not? Absolutely recommendable in this price category.
Quiet and beautifully located area. Away from the hustle and bustle as we like it. We rented an electric scooter for our entire stay, so that we could also enjoy distant beaches and bars. We would book here again at any time.
