This place met our expectations and lived up to its reviews. True king-size bed and way more comfortable than almost all beds in Europe and other locations in Asia. Astounding breakfast. And classy, attentive staff. Restaurant food was a little pricey but super high quality so we thought it was worth it to eat there both nights. This made three hotels in a row in Myanmar that exceeded most European hotels we stay in, and for a fraction of the cost. Well done, Myanmar!

We arrived at 4 am but front desk stuck to their rules on not allowing early check in unless extra cost it’s paid despite rooms being available. We waited at the lobby for a while. There was also no toilet at the front desk. Hotel grounds and rooms are nice and pleasant. Staffs are polite. Extra bed cost is rather steep at US$40per night.

Blue Bird Bagan In Bagan we stayed at the “Blue Bird” hotel. A nice small hotel with a nice clean pool where to relax after visiting the thousands of temples. Staff was helpful and friendly. Absolutely can recommend this hotel if you prefer smaller places. As my wife and I prefer to venture around we found a family run restaurant just a few steps away which we also can highly recommend for dinner and drinks: “Nightingale” is just a three minutes walk away.

The Blue Bird is a charming base for temple exploration in Bagan or a relaxing retreat. The staff are outstanding, especially Cho who went out of her way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. I fell ill for a couple of days, and the dining staff brought me back to life with rice soup and green tea. The rest of the food was fantastic, as well. The property is pleasant, but it is the people that makes this place very special.

Good hotel, friendly people, decent location. Rooms were on the small side and ours was very dark. But the pool is nice and the breakfast is good if not great. I’m not sure how it compares with other hotels in the area, but it does get the number one trip advisor review for Bagan which is kind of puzzling so maybe this one is just the best?
