I cannot say enough good things about Alaya!!
Let's start with Rodrigo. Rodrigo greeted us upon our arrival and we always had such positive interactions with him throughout our entire stay. He was so accommodating and never made us feel bad about asking for the things we needed. The entire Alaya staff is just truly amazing. As a group of 3 girls on a trip together, we felt like we were very safe as all of the staff was so kind and concerned for all of our needs/safety.
The location of this place is top notch. You can walk to just about anywhere you want on the beach side of Tulum.
Parking was a huge plus. I was nervous getting a rental car for our trip because I had heard parking in the beach area of Tulum could be very difficult. But Alaya provided complimentary parking for their guests with 24/7 security.
One thing that was really nice about Alaya is that because it was a smaller hotel, there's really not a bad location of any of the rooms. No matter where you are, it's a short walk up to the front of the hotel and once you walk out of your room you are essentially on the beach. We did the partial ocean view and if you're concerned that this might not be enough, I can assure you even the partial view is pretty fantastic. We stayed in Room 6 and from both of our queen size beds you could see the ocean straight out through our balcony. I loved sleeping at night and being able to hear the waves.
The only negative thing I would say about this hotel is that the food is mediocre and the food/beverage service is a little bit on the slower side. But this wasn't too big of an issue for us as we didn't really eat at the hotel anyways, because there's so many amazing restaurants to explore in Tulum. If anything, we would just order appetizers from Alaya while we were down at the pool or while we were getting ready in our room.
I will absolutely be recommending Alaya to anyone going to Tulum. There's no where else I'd rather stay!
We had the pleasure of staying at Alaya Tulum at the end of November and it was such a lovely experience!
The hotel is a boutique property, with a Tulum style, chic design. We loved the beach front villa- there is nothing better than falling asleep to the sounds of the waves! We also stayed in the jungle suite, and loved it! The food was spectacular, and nothing was better than their happy hour spicy margaritas cocktails! The hotel is also located on a strip of the pristine Beach, with no seaweed. The staff were also very attentative, and made sure we had everything we needed.
We keep raving about our stay and can't wait to go back!
Me and my partner stayed at Alaya as part of a multi centre holiday, admittedly this was back in 2017 and I am extremely late with writing this review.
Upon arrival we were greeted by staff in the main reception and once the usual process was complete we were escorted to our room on the upper floor. I was wowed by the design, intimacy of how the rooms were built in a horseshoe type design with the white sand running all the way to the beach.
The design of the rooms and communal areas is rustic, arty, earthy and very healing on the soul. The attention to detail with the decor, art work on the walls and locally sourced furniture is beautiful - upu can see this place was carved and made with LOVE and the quality of the construction is sheer perfection.
I loved the fact this resort is extremely small, it is romantic, restful, calming, quiet and the perfect place to escape for a honeymoon, quality time with a loved one or simply as a solo traveller seeking a refuge or sanctuary.
The room was well appointed with safe, king size bed, shower room, separate dressing area and toilet along with a wrap around balcony over looking the stunning gardens. It was a very quiet hotel with air conditioning and all the amenities one could ever need.
The breakfast was beautiful in the only restaurant, varied choice, great quality and the setting is lovely as it looks down through the buildings and sand path leading to beach. The beach side sun loungers and service was top quality and I am sure the owner will be proud at what has been created.
Alaya is the sister property to Ahau and a number of other local resorts in Tulum, they share a similar theme with the craftsmanship and design so worth visiting these properties as we did to get some good food and drinks.
I would revisit without question, encourage others to book and endorse with pleasure. Great hotel, great service, good quality and for a reasonable price when compared to other sites in Tulum. Well done team Alaya!
It’s probably the most amazing place and best gateway... I’m starting with the staff Carlos,Fernando,Maria and the front desk staff definitely make you feel home, safe always making sure you having the best treat. Don’t miss your yoga’s class.
Highly recommended ❤️
