Casa Gilardi

Every Barragan casa gets better. This tour is family run and well worth your time. They very generously allow you to see most of the house despite it being used as their family residence. Go for the colors, go for the light, go for inspiration. Unreal.

Mind blowing, if you are visiting Mexico City, you should visit this place

Excellent tour by one of the sons in the Gilardi family who still live there. $300 is well worth it. Call or text to find a date and time. One of the only times you will see a house by such a prominent architect with a family still living there, the way it was intended to be used (unlike a museum). The use of light, space and especially colors is amazing. Casa Gilardi is recommended over the Barragan studio as the UNESCO site is very difficult to gain entry to.

Wow... 300 to get in, scheduled, and 800 for photos. that's almost 50 us dollars and absolutely insane. I"m sure this place is gorgeous which is why i'm leaving something more than 1 star. I've been to museums all over the world, including many private residences that open their doors, and this price is outrageous to charge. It makes me wonder where the money goes. Many other private residences donate to local charities or have a foundation, but this is straight up price gouging and a bit of snobbery. If you really cared about sharing this with the public, you'd keep it by reservation and drop your prices. But I guess people will pay whatever for likes on instagram.

This place is unbelievably beautiful. A little tricky to get a tour scheduled, but that's to be expected since this is a private residence. Just make sure to give yourself some time to call or email to schedule a tour ahead of time. The tour "guide" (they really let you self-guide) is very knowledgeable about the house. Definitely worth a visit.
