La Recova Santa Lucía

As I do understand the reviews are very important to a restaurant, I have mixed feelings about this one. Let me start by saying that the service was exceptional. I read some past reviews from a year+ ago that mentioned that the service was terrible. I am pretty sure they have changed for the better. Atmosphere is fantastic. Extremely overpriced for Mexico. Steak was by far the worst I have ever had on my plate. Chewy and fatty. Horrible, couldn’t even eat it. Also couldn’t cut it with a steak knife. I would say that there may have been a language barrier, however, I was told in plain English that it was very meaty and not fatty at all. I also ordered it medium, and it came in extremely raw in the center (which took a while to be able to even cut through to that point). The other plates at our table were on the bland side. But presentation was amazing. Although, I’m not eating presentation, I want great food! So overall I feel like a three star is fair. I would likely stay away from this restaurant in the future. Of course, everyone’s experience is different and if you’re reading this review, I wouldn’t blow it off until you try it. You might have a far better experience. But stay away from the tenderloin!

We really enjoyed this place. The wait staff was extremely kind, and the food was great. It was certainly the nicest place we tried in Mérida, but also the most expensive. It was very expensive compared to most other places in the city, but not unreasonable; still a little cheaper than what I'd expect to pay for that food in the States. The patio was a great place to eat and really helped make it a solid date spot.

It cost a bit more but the food and the service is top quality. The table side fling dessert drew oohs and aahs.

Excellent handmade fettuccini. Friends had the lobster and costilla. All dishes were well served and very tasty.

Good wine selection, ossobuco was fantastic. Would definitely dine here again. Service was fast and friendly. Good atmosphere.
