Restaurant La Hacienda de Oro

When I came to came to Puerto Vallarta a few months ago, I came to the Botanical Gardens. They are beautiful, and I love how they are preserving so much land around the area. I was amazed by the restaurant - service is excellent, food was great and prices were quite reasonable for a tourist location. I came back to PV a few days ago, and I wasted little time in taking the bus to the gardens again. Truth be told, the primary reason was to enjoy the food and spectacular setting of the restaurant again, but it was a joy to hike the trails and see the exhibits before eating. Complementary cucumber slices with chile/salt/lime are delicious and so is the sample of Jamaica (hibiscus) tea they give you. Chilaquiles were awesome, just like the first time. Nice cool breeze, beautiful view. I think the bill was only about 230 pesos for chilaquiles and two beers. Waiters are attentive, helpful and very friendly.

Great service, ambience and food. We ordered vegan tacos off-menu and they were the best we’ve ever had. Such good food!

I would come here for lunch every day if I lived near Boca! Hahaha. Loved the deck, the hummingbirds, open concept kitchen and super fresh food. Our club sandwich with fries and the avocado toast with salad were perfect to share. Have lunch here and then walk it off through the beautiful botanical gardens. Looks like a great place for events too. Perfection.

One of the more pleasant surprises I’ve had at a restaurant in a tourist destination - it was amazing. Almost upscale, while maintaining a resort atmosphere. Every dish I tried was fresh tasting and delicious. Even though it was lunchtime, they serve their breakfast menu - best avocado toast I’ve had in a while. Prices are definitely higher than in town, but hardly excessive. Two of us ate our full for under 700 pesos. If this were closer to town, I would be returning more frequently.

Shockingly good! Much better than it would have to be really. Beautiful setting above a deep river valley already makes it worth the trip, but the food was really really good. Classic Mexican fare and great quality and taste. Maybe the best in PV area honestly, and I know that’s saying something. Also walk down afterwards to the river, it’s beautiful there!
