Mantamar Beach Club Bar & Sushi

Had the best time here last week. Everyone was so friendly. Misuel and Valentino were awesome. Will definitely be back! Also, I had lost some items and the beach club found them, logged them into the safe, and I was able to retrieve them the next day. I was extremely impressed with the professionalism and courtesy. You guys know how to run a business!

Our bill was 1000 pesos, they charged us over 5000 pesos. It turned out they had put someone else in the same bracelet number as us (without us knowing). When we told them about the discrepancy they said we had to pay anyway “because we knew the other guy as we came in together” (we didnt know him but he was at the entrance waiting to be seated and so the host assumed we were together). After I tried to explain they called the police, who came, as a swat team, with automatic guns and all. I was forced up against the wall as they wanted to take me to the police station. NEVER I have not paid my bills or owe any money to anyone. We were in Mexico for 3 days to relax and one has to know that battles to fight, so I was forced to pay (by the police!) a bill for hundreds of dollars that was not mine. We have been coming to PV for years and have come to Mantamar where the hosts have always been all smiles and great customer service. This has changed. This club is now just a tourist trap for gays, poor customer service, expensive drinks and, as you can read, a scam. What happened to us may sound trivial, but trust me, when the heavily armed mexican police is forcing your body up against the wall your vacation is short of ruined and your head marked for life. My advice to you is to go to the Blue chairs, next to this club, where they have no pool but they are nice and treat you with dignity (and much cheaper drinks).

Mantamar is not cheap by Mexican standards. It's 300 pesos to enter with a 200 peso "deposit". Valet is also not cheap and you have to pay the valet guy directly. I would have avoided this all, but I had to get quickly to Mantamar because I had an appointment earlier at a beauty salon to get my eyebrows waxed. Avoid parking here if you can. It was worse for me because there are construction crews across from the Mantamar entrance. Jose the host is a really nice, considerate and hardworking person and he's quite handsome. He has a really great attitude which is refreshing in our catty gay world - I was very happy to tip him a good amount! He deserves it! I really wish him all the luck in the world. People like him make our gay community better! On the other hand the receptionist is a brat - a real chica robot! She rushed me off the phone. I forgot to ask about parking. I called again and the phone rang off the hook. On purpose! %%$@ chica robot! No wonder some gay guys hate fish! I don't really care but the receptionist deserves their ire and more... The locker service requires a 200 peso deposit. The locker room and bathroom is very clean and they have paper towels! The automatic faucets and towel dispensers are just as finicky as old Palm Springs queens - and just as exasperating. I feel sorry for Amy gay boy that deals with them when he's drunk and even buzzing- that's not good! PLEASE ADJUST THE AUTOMATIC FAUCETS AND TOWEL DISPENSERS! Fernando was my server. I'm not sure he's used to dealing with queens because he's too reserved. He's very polite and did a great job bringing my drinks in a timely manner but he needs to loosen up. Queens don't bite. I don't anyway. AS ALWAYS YOU GET ANNOYED OVER AND OVER BY OUR "AMIGOS" TRYING TO SELL US HANDICRAFTS OR MASSAGES. UGH! I reserved a beach chair the day before and was able to watch the beach for nearly 4 hours!!!! The water was too cold for me lol. I got some chicken quesadillas and fries. Pretty good. The 3 mezcal cocktails I ordered were ok. Well served by beach standards but not by city standards lol. Mantamar has cool caps at 400 pesos But only tank tops - boo! Mantamar blows Sapphire away. They know it and make you pay for it. Still, I don't care. I had fun and that's all that matters!

Came to this place to check it out and see what the hype was all about. However, being there is definitely not safe. Very irresponsible for this place to allow foreign tourist and anyone to walk around without mask and not enforce social distancing. They say they follow guidelines, but it simply is not true. They are endangering the local community and their workers just simply to appease foreign tourist trying to escape their local restrictions.

Really fun place for LGBT clients! The experience was a tiny bit marred by a billing dispute after a day of being there. The resort gives you a wrist band, so seeing confirmation of what you're being billed for doesn't happen until the end of the day. I had been ordering doubles for the start of the beach day, and tapered off to singles. The issue is that the bill kept the doubles after switching to singles. The staff didn't seem to understand the issue once brought up, so I paid the extra 20% to my bill since it's vacation and I didn't want to deal with a dispute. I'd recommend ensuring that you close out your bill each time, or ask for confirmation of what you were just billed, and the price after each order.
