Unfortunately (Dec 30 2020), a hurricane has changed the landscape and the pink hue is not clear or very visible at all. The staff believe that it will come back in 6 months or so. Pretty disappointing after a long drive there. They still are open and doing 'tours' which consist of an accompanied walk on a sandbar but again, colors not currently visible, so you pay for a 15 minute walk. One big plus was that we saw flamingos in the wild on the drive in which was awesome.

This place is a scam. The lakes are not pink. If they do become pink someday, you should not pay for a tour. The most colorful lake is right off of the main road, so DO NOT pay for them to walk you down the sandbar. On the whole it is not worth the 5 hour round trip to get here. We did see a crocodile on the way which was the best part of the experience, however the roads do flood so be prepared.

The lakes are really pink, but not the whole year. The day I visited it was 70 % of its maximum color. It really depends on salt evaporation process, the more salt is there, the pinker it is. The cheapest entrance fee 115 for Mexican and 150 for foreigners.

We drove a lot of time to find out the water color is not the same anymore. Some locals recommended going back there around February 2021. The place is run by a private salt company and they haven't developed any official website where people could get the needed info of the place. If you manage to reach the place, you pay to be inside ONLY 45 minutes with a tour guide that they provide. It's a really far place, not easy to access if the roads are flooded and you don't have an SUV. I was really offended to find out there are a lot of restricted areas where you can't go, basically you can only hang out 45 minutes with a guide whose speech is half relevant information and half propaganda for the company. We got some nice views of the beaches nearby, but definitely consider going here twice if you're reading this in December 2020.

The pink lakes are a scam. You are forced to go inside with a guide who doesn’t have much to say. You walk some 200m and back. Entrance is 50 pesos for the natural park plus 110 for the guide (you HAVE to have a guide). You can already see the pink color from the road, the only thing you get by paying is looking at it with the sun in your back in afternoon times. Not worth $15 US. Instead, drive down the sand road that is to the right when you’re turning away from the entrance, get a guide at the small booth on the way (we paid 300 pesos for 2) and the guide will take you to see flamingos, get a fish pedicure and the Mayan bath.
