Chedraui Playa del Carmen

Very satisfied with this Chedraui location for the most part. I like going first thing in the morning and it is never too busy or crowded. It is a very large store that sells literally, one can say, everything. My main focus, however, is their fruit and vegetable section, which is excellent because it has almost everything one would want laid out in an effectively compact, area that is not overly and unnecessarily spread out like the "too big for its own good" Soriana across the street. There are also some organic fruit and veg options too, which should be a given in a good grocery store these days. The main aisles have an excellent selection of local and imported goods, as well as some "natural" and "organic" foods and sections. Of course, many of the specialty or imported items are way over-priced but if someone wants something badly at least the choice is there. The bakery section, as with every Chedraui, needs some improvement as "healthy bread" options basically do not exist. All of their breads and baked goods are based on white refined flours, sugars, and unhealthy fats. Overall, the store is clean and staff are okay, not the most helpful, but not bad either. At the register, of course, as with any other store, it is essential to look at the prices that get rung up as it is common that the price on the shelf is not the price at the register. They do have lots of price checker machines throughout the store that can also help to know what to expect. Ultimately, I am super grateful that I have a Chedraui in the area to enjoy as they are by far my favorite chain of grocery stores in Mexico.

Great store and well stocked, however I did purchase a bad bottle of wine from them and tried to return it for a refund ... sadly their customer service was appalling, saying that they could not refund an open bottle just because I didn’t like it! I agreed to buy replacement wines so they could refund the bad wine, but then would not refund me as I had paid for the new wine at a checkout and not at their counter! I was then kept waiting over an hour whilst they tried to say it might take over a month to receive the refund. Unfortunately I had to argue with them for over an hour before they agreed to refund 300 pesos to my credit card. Yes, just 300 pesos!

Not the best experience unfortunately, long lines, 30% of products missing price tags etc. It really needs better management

Good selection of food and competitively priced to Walmart. For a big order you need to order one day in advance as they are always busy or use Rappi if you have a small order and need food within an hour. They deliver to my area which is great. Walmart is closer but won’t deliver to my area for big orders 👎

Convenient but nos as stocked as other supermarkets near downtown Playa. It is cleaner and newer and not as crowded though which is a plus and it was built for the residential areas north of downtown which lacked a supermarket. In the same Plaza there is now a small movie theater, office supply store and a Domino's pizza. It has been a refreshing close to home shopping site for the locals.
