Be aware the church is only open on Sundays. It’s worth a walk through the courtyard and taking some photos. But the real attraction is walking the side streets until you find the perfect cobblestone street with all yellow walls. If you have time, try walking around the back of the church to see the unpainted side and a stained glass reverse.

Convento de San Antonio de Padua, an old convent built in 1549 on the top of a Mayan pyramid which the Spanish conquistadors leveled into a terrace. I love the architecture and the ambiance of the place. The pope statue took away a bit of its historical charm in my opinion but all in all it’s a unique place to see in Yucatan. Its yellowness matches the blue sky perfectly.
