Playa Chachalacas

It is located at the mouth of the La Antigua River, in Veracruz, Mexico. It is a beach totally free of trade, stalls, palapas, etc., so it is a natural and totally rustic place, where you can be in contact with nature. The beach is of almost black sand and a calm swell, although it is not to be trusted because there may be currents due to the proximity of the river mouth. For this same reason, the water is not so salty. There is no shade of any kind, nothing to cover the sun, so it is advisable to bring a tent or beach cover. You also have to be careful to fix it well to the ground, as there is free wind and the equipment can be carried away. On the river side it is not very deep but the bottom is a bit uneven and somewhat rocky, so it is recommended to wear water shoes to avoid any discomfort. As there are few visitors and there is no noise, you can see pelicans, herons and other birds that get quite close and are not disturbed by the human presence. If you take water to drink and a snack, you can stay all day. The boat transport on the river is efficient and the people are friendly. Visitors are brought and returned all the time. In case you want to return at some point, you can agree on the return time but in any case, they provide a telephone number so that you can call when you want to return to the town of La Antigua, where you can eat, buy some crafts, visit the house de Cortés and even see the Papantla flyers on the esplanade near the suspension bridge.
