Too much reconstruction, and the descriptions are not very helpful (I know “an upside-down man is depicted” on that wall; I can see it 🙄. Give me some background info). An important archeological zone though; just not as impressive as some of its peers. Nice view of the city from the hill top.

Unbelievable!!! You need to go. They were all built and the conquests were made from about 100 years before Jesus was born, and they continued building and expanding as the Zapotecas ruled Monté Alban. It was an entire town of people living in pyramids

We went during the Dia de Los Muertos 2019. Monte Alban was amazing, you can go to any the Oaxaca center and buy a bus ticket to monte Alban or a taxi. Once ther you pay an entrance fee. You can explore all the amazing ruins. If you have a $20 peso bill you will see the background based off of monte Alban. There are several tours, but I recommend exploring on your own. Amazing experience.
