Lovely little local bakery I try and support. Selection is decent but poor service. As I discovered to my disadvantage this morning, if you’re ordering a loaf of bread you have to specify for it to NOT be sliced. I selected a nice white loaf and the lady took it out to the back. I assumed she was just going bag it (as they usually do) but when she turned on the slicing machine I realised my mistake. I tried shouting in vain to get her attention but no luck. When she returned and I pointed out that I had not asked for my loaf to be sliced she became defensive and said I should have specified that I did NOT want it sliced and tried to make me pay for it. I ended up having to plead with her to give me a different, unsliced loaf of bread. It could have been a simple matter of a misunderstanding but her overall unprofessional manner and unwillingness to admit that maybe she was also in the wrong left a bad taste in my mouth. Especially since today is my birthday! Word of advice: offer the customer choice: sliced or not sliced?

A very nice small bakery where you can order your fresh cakes a day ahead. The fresh bakes are home baked and everything but industrial. The various breads are all delicious.

As a child I bought Spoorpunt and round apple pastries from Bakkerij Talsma. Already a great bakery back then. This is 65 years ago. The baker's daughter (Akki) was in my class at the Safornin Lomanschool on Plompetorengracht. Incredibly nice people.
