Went to dentist Michielse in March for a check-up. He indicated that 1 tooth had broken off a little bit and that he wanted to fill it. I had no problems at all and never noticed that anything would have broken off, but this filling was placed in June. Immediately after the treatment when the anesthetic had worn off I had a lot of pain, but I thought, it will pass. I called the dentist after a week of pain and was told this was normal and would go away. 3 weeks later the pain was worse and I couldn't chew that side of my mouth at all so I called back. Was told again it was normal and would go away. After another week of literally crying in pain, my husband called the practice and asked if they would please look at it because that much pain couldn't be normal. I was seen by Dr. Schuller who immediately performed a root canal treatment, which would then be completed by Dr. Michielse 3 weeks later with a final filling. After the first part of the treatment I was in extreme pain for a week. Even with painkillers I could barely do anything, even woke up several times a night, but luckily this slowly disappeared after about 10 days. on August 19 the final filling came, this seemed to go well, the first 2 weeks no pain, then the pain gradually returned and I had to take painkillers every day. Called the dentist again, was told again it was normal and would go away, but the pain was getting worse. My husband had to call again to enforce an appointment and I ended up again with Dr. Schuller. He said he couldn't see anything on the tooth, but if it continued to hurt he could pull it out, he sharpened it a bit for the shape, but that didn't help. That is the point that we decided to find another dentist, because I have now spent more than 500 euros on a tooth that was initially fine with them to spend 3+ months in hellish pain and then hear to get them to pull it. Fortunately, I am now being treated by another dentist who wants to send me to an endodontologist to do the root canal again because there is probably a small canal in it that is not clearly visible on X-ray pictures and which has therefore not been treated.
