Super kind staff, great service and a very nice and clean vehicle. Also, it is easy to return the car outside office hours, without any additional (parking) fees. Highly recommended!

The girl working there was very helpful and found a way to give me a car even though Rentalcars.com made a mess with my reservation. UPDATE 2020 I still love to rent a car from Sixt :) you are simply the best

Excellent experience. I had made a wrong selection of my intended insurance (the website is not too clear that the prices are additive rather than per item, and before confirmation one is not shown a detailed specification). In principle, this was final. But I reported this when picking up the car, and the very friendly representative at the desk managed to correct it with the main office. The mistaken amount was refunded in the final bill.

Never rent with Sixt! Door was locked upon arrival, knocked after checking for another entrance then had to pound on the door to get them to open up. The fellow at the desk was nice enough, stated they were having a meeting, which should be done before the work day starts. Got the keys Walked over to where the cruise ship loading area is (about 400m not horrible) to get the car waited over 15 minutes there for the attendant, who was a nice guy but due to the locked door I was already running late from the desk so wanted to get on the road but still took videos of the car. I asked him where the drop-off area was and he pointed in a direction close to the media markt so I asked him if it was there and he said yes. The car was great for the trip no major issues. For the return went to the media markt and there were other car rental signs but none for Sixt. The only place was a parking garage that looked like it was under construction but it was the only other option so slowly went down the ramp hoping I could turn around and then once I had gone almost too far to turn back there was finally a Sixt sign. Got to the drop-off area and there wasn't a staff member there so waited for around 5 minutes. Then he and I did a walk around the vehicle and he confirmed everything was all good so I signed to say that everything was ok as it was. Got the invoice the next day so thought everything was all good, until almost a month later I then get an e-mail saying that there is damage and not just in 1 spot but 2??????? So I call the Sixt Damage phone number and work through the phone prompts for around 7-10 minutes and then finally it say we are connecting you with a representative, but no they then say due to issues (they used a French term) we are not able to take your call e-mail us. So I have now e-mailed and awaiting a reply, but the fact that all of these things have happened just shows you the reason why you should never rent with Sixt!

Yes the prices are more expensive than other agencies, but I had been using Sixt globally for many years with mainly positive experiences so I remained loyal, not any more. My experience with Sixt Ireland, the UK, the US and Australia had been pretty good, the odd small issue here and there but it was always sorted immediately. Sixt in the Netherlands though, that's another story. I returned my car early on Sunday Oct 25th (it was due back at 5pm I returned it before 3pm) and both the office and drop off point were unmanned and locked up. There is no drop box to leave the car so I had to drive it back to my home. Luckily I live in Amsterdam, if I had of been due to catch a train or flight then what would I have done? There is no support phone number to call if you have out of hours problems with your car, you do not get email responses when you use their email support as directed by the recorded message on the phone. Eventually I was contacted by a member of the Sixt team and the car was collected later that evening at my home, but I should not have to chase down the Sixt team to drop off a car and lose time on my day off. The Sixt service seems to be designed to make Sixt's life easy and not the customer's life easy. I recommend using a different car rental agency if you wish to rent from Sixt Amsterdam central, especially at the weekend. I think Alamo seem to offer the best customer experience and from what I can see they are better value.
