the Heimolen

The Heimolen, is a round stone bell grist mill, an upper porter. The Heimolen is named after the surrounding Hoevense Heide and a remnant of the Zegsche Heide to the north-west. Around 1840 the rest hills were covered with heather and the many enclosed wooded banks disappeared, including the small corners with forest remains. The area around Rucphen has been reclaimed from a high moor area with river sediment curves. After the peating, a sandy landscape remained, by using the farmers as pasture and arable land.

Had a nice tour from a friendly miller. The children loved it.
