No customer-friendly process for international residents. My wife and I wanted to open a Silver Fleet account for our newborn daughter. Firstly, this was not possible online, so we came in contact by email. After sending the ID documents and social security numbers, I was then asked for a Dutch insurance card with my social security number (originally from Portugal). I could still understand that, only because of this it took another day or 2 longer. After that we also had to inform my wife of the birthplace by email. A few days later we suddenly received a request by mail for 2 special signature documents from my wife. We have therefore sent it. And after we thought that the administrative actions were over, we were told that we had to send an excerpt from the municipal registration. The fact that this costs 12.50 is not even the problem, but that the municipal counter is only open during working hours. - We did not understand this request at all. It is not possible to be insured under a Dutch social security number if you are not registered somewhere. - My wife and daughter also have my last name. All in all it took 3 weeks before we finally decided to let it go. Shame about the effort. The staff treated us kindly, it was just a shame that the local RegioBank was so dependent on the head office that it constantly asked for additional information. In the end, we did not want to run the risk that something like this would happen again in 18 years, for example if we (or our daughter) lived in Portugal for a few years. Incidentally, at the SNS it was arranged in 1 evening including downloading and activating the App!
