Reviews
I think the bad reviews are just the tip of the iceberg. I also had those bad experiences. Mine are similar as mentioned in earlier reviews. Now he says as an excuse that he is suffering from a trauma and that's is why he has this extreme behaviour. I personally find it hard to believe any good review mentioned about him. He makes his own rules and doesn't respect the law. He pretends also often to be the owner but he is just the assistent. So the owner keeps his hands clean. It is very important that everything you discuss with him or agree to is written and don't go for a discussion to the office that would be my strong advise. My comment is in English because I know that they have lot's of expats as a customer. A tenant is well protected bij the law in the Netherlands.
Charles is a scammer. Everybody stay away from him!
Charles, the apparent owner of this seedy underbelly organization parading as a housing agency, is one of the most hostile, unpleasant human beings I have had the displeasure of dealing with.
Two friends and I, moved into a house shipped on to us by Charles (we found out after the fact that he personally owned the property as well, using this fact to harass us) and promptly discovered the type of person/people we were dealing with. The move in was agreed to be around July 31st, however the house was only ready to be moved in on two full weeks after the fact, leaving me stranded and having to stay at hotels or my friends houses whilst workers were walking in and out from 8am on, in order to "paint and refurbish" the house (something that was never fully completed, and even agreed upon to be finished way before we moved in). Next, throughout the year we lived there, Charles remained an ever present nuisance, showing up unannounced and entering the house multiple times (we asked him to stop and he did in fairness calm down a little with the unrequested entrances) and even going as far as to claim we NEEDED to buy a cleaner, because (and I quote verbatim) "He has three kids to feed, he cried when he saw the state of the house", nonetheless despite my roomates and I rebuttals such an hyperbolic statement we agreed to a have a cleaning lady come in, but if he helped pay half of it (as we are students, and he was the one who so intensely required our house to be spotless), next thing we know he completely 'forgot' about the agreement and actually became furious at us for paying the half we agreed to, and after a couple rancorous 'conversations' with the man and his employee (who had to speak as his proxy, due to his lack of calm) the entire debacle was dropped. Due to the length I will summarize the rest: When we finally moved out, both because of my roommates failing their year and waiting to leave to Amsterdam, respectively, Charles demanded us to pay 6k euros in damages, and adamantly denying us the chance to have a final inspection together, so as the tenants and the landlord could inspect and agree to what was caused by us, and what was not.
After two weeks of absolute spurious claims, the price was then dropped to 4k (how can 2000 euros magically dissipate?), and then, after my ex-roommate and I (i like to think rightfully so) admonished him for his unacceptable behavior, Charles first tried to genuinely start a physical conflict with me after we grew tired of his insults and called him (wrongly so, as I dropped to his despicable level for a second) and 'idiot'. Subsequently, Charles decided to no longer respond to in person nor through the phone; leaving us confused, and ultimately without having to pay any of the supposed damages he claimed (of which for example 200euros to repaint walls that had not been painted prior to moving in, and I just find it very suspicious the way he dropped all these burning claims that he almost FOUGHT me over), but conveniently, Charles kept all of our deposits, almost as if this was his plan the entire time.
Charles is a liar and a red-faced thief, he thrives off of students needed housing; repeatedly harassing and threatening them with unsubstantiated claims, all the while hoping he can take your deposit by making you scared by the sum of money he claims as damages.
This man is a stain on Maastricht.
Very bad experience with Woonder, specially with Charles. He had to make some reparations in my house after selling it, but 1.5 years later I'm still waiting.
Be careful, he's very nice and promises a lot when you meet him, but afterwards he just forgets and ignores you...
Very dubious agency. At first Charles seemed nice, but then he asked us to pay a deposit for a contract he did not even set up yet. After asking him multiple times to provide us with a contract, he still was not able to do so. When we told him we will not make any payments before we see a contract he even got extremely angry and started shouting on the phone.
This agency seems to be a big SCAM! Definitely try to avoid this place at any cost. Worst costumer service I ever experienced!
