Reizen in Colombia

Colombia is a beautiful country. It has everything. Culture, nature, extreme sports, beach, mountains, but especially friendly people. It is a very colorful country. Yanet from "Reizen in Colombia" knows how to organize a very varied trip, where you can also bring your own input. Especially in places where you don't come with a normal tour with a group. Most hotels / hostels are simple but good. Usually a colonial building in the center of a village. You will be informed of local meals and crafts that are often practiced per village. As far as meals are concerned, it is wise to agree in advance on the amounts that stand. The guide is not always aware of this and has its own values. In Colombia, both lunch and dinner are a very extensive hot meal, too much for us. This has played a part in our journey. A trip with a local guide is a great method to learn Spanish or put it into practice. People react very positively to this and you get very nice conversations. All in all, we really enjoyed this trip. We have seen a lot in 2 weeks. We get a "warm" (in 2 meanings of the word) feeling about it. We would redo traveling this way again!

A fantastic diverse trip, very well taken care of by Yanet Verwaal of Traveling in Colombia. Our first trip to this wonderful country was home to a hotel in the lively La Candelaria neighborhood of Bogota. Here we were also nice and close to the special places of Bogotá, such as Monserrate (monastery on the mountain), Plaza de Bolivar, Museo del Oro and the Botero museum. As soon as you visit this museum, you immediately recognize the style of this Fernando Botero born in Medellin. What makes the neighborhood cozy are the narrow alleys and squares full of graffiti art and images. From La Candelaria we always visited special places by domestic flight in a different corner of the country, such as Leticia in the Amazon, but also the IIanos, where we stayed on the Hacienda of a large landowner and his staff showed us the beautiful nature with many animal species, as alligators showed ground owls, iguanas, anacondas and wild horses. We even fished and caught piranhas. One of the many highlights of this vacation was our trek through the Sierra Nevada to the "Ciudad Perdida" (lost city). This is at an altitude of 1200 meters and was founded 1200 years ago by the Tayrona Indians and discovered in the early 1970s in the wilderness. Our trek was with a guide for 5 days there and back, sleeping in hammocks between posts under a canopy in the mountains and the jungle. Toiling over impassable paths, wading through fast-flowing rivers and encounters with authentic Indian villages, where these people still live like 1,200 years ago. Back after 5 days I was exhausted, but an experience richer that I never wanted to miss. Yanet, thank you for making this trip possible for us. Peter Boers

I went on holiday with Reizen in Colombia, a beautiful country that surprised me with its beautiful nature and cheerful faces. It was a perfectly arranged tour; the guides, the transport, the accommodations, the destinations ... really violent, we have had nothing to complain about.
