Houseboat Pride of Leyden

Fabulous place in a wonderful town, with a marvellous hostess. Great place to stay, very well stocked, and 15 minutes walk from the centre. Only downside was that the buses weren't working because of a bridge closure.

What a great experience! We were in Leiden for a conference, but stayed a few extra days to enjoy the area. Leiden was wonderful and the experience was made all the more unique by living on the canal. To be fair, the outside of the houseboat is quite unassuming, but inside is nicely appointed with clean, bright, functional furniture and appliances. The back porch was great for watching the myriad of boats go by as well as the wide range of bicycles and people along the canal path. The walk into the center of Leiden took 15-20 mind depending on where you are going and each walk takes you through historic streets and more canals. Importantly, this houseboat is not on the main canal route for tours, so the primary boats you see are locals out enjoying the water. Such a unique experience. Highly recommended.

Convenient location in the Old Town, comfortable beds and furniture, plenty of useful information about Leiden, comes with a kitchen full of Dutch breakfast treats. And my kid loved feeding the du ks that passed by. Just about perfect for a houseboat experience.
