Yesterday we arrived from Belgium by ferry to visit the municipality of Vlissingen on our day off. This only for a short afternoon trip. We had previously taken the taxi and train to Middelburg where we once visited the city center and marina (as I also have a boat in Belgium). Once we arrived at the station we wanted to take the bus at 19:45 towards the center of Vlissingen. The bus arrived quite quickly after we arrived by train and we asked the bus driver if we could pay with money. He said this could only be done online via the app. However, my friend actually had the app, it only indicated 'no ticket available' for the ride we chose. The bus driver refused any help and said very unkindly that we had to leave his bus immediately. When I asked how we should take a bus, his answer was 'anyone can do it, so it can't be that you can't do it'. This in a very rude way. Finally we went back to the station where I asked the shop for a word of explanation. Without buying anything there I was helped by the friendly man and he indicated we could buy a pass and top up money to take public transport. This was almost 15 euros per person and can be used several times, but of course not an option for a short afternoon visit. We then took a taxi for the same price (2x 15 euros) and visited the center. I would like to know why we, as a day tourist, were treated so unfriendly by this bus driver. Too bad our day trip had to end like this. I don't know if I would recommend it to friends.

The buses run at normal times again. Unfortunately, the drivers are often without passengers, sometimes completely alone. Get in that bus, but with a mask. Or take the train if you need to travel a little further. But please use public transport again. The plane is also recommended again. They are for very long distances. Mouth masks must also be used there, and less travelers can also use the 1.5 Mar space. Again, for the shorter distances, take the bus and train .. Where would we be without public transport?
