I have given 4 stars because the Qatar check-in desk at Manila Airport did try to help me but they could only go as far as they were permitted to go and though they did go the extra mile for me, I was still left stranded in Manila for 2 days as once they could help me no more walked away from the desk; I had been speaking to the staff and then the supervisor.
I had to just enough money for 2 nights at a local hotel and food and taxis. With a mad dash on messenger my friend was able to get me an emergency flight but I still had to stay those 2 nights extra.
My mistake as it turned out; my return flight on Qatar Airways was just after midnight but on the previous day and to be honest I thought I had turned up on the right day as I had travelled from Cebu to Manilla to make that flight.
I was offered an alternative flight but i would have to pay $600 as my ticket had expired; but I did not have that money available.
When I was standing there at the desk and realising my flight had gone I thought to myself "I'm not going to get that cappuchino now at doha". It was 3 hours later before I was in a cab on my way to a hotel not even knowing if I could get a room but after I checked in I was at ease.
I did appreciate the help I was given on the 27/28th July 2017 at the Qatar check-in desk at Manila Airport and I was disappointed that the customer service did not have an emergency plan for late passengers, and I feel this is something Qatar Airways need to consider as a passengers genuine mistake still needs help from Qatar Airways whether Qatar are at fault or not; I would call it "After Care Customer Services".
My Recommendation to Qatar Airways;
When a passaenger has missed a flight, whether they were late or in my case misunderstood the date and day of the return flight; with out prejudice, Qatar Airways should offer free of charge a short stay hotel with full board to cover the duration of the extended stay with included taxis paid for by the airline so that the passenger/s are put at ease and do not have that extra worry and anxiety over their situation.
I feel Qatar Airways need to provide this service as a goodwill gesture to passengers who become stranded (as I was).
If Qatar Airways could provide this service would be very helpful.
My personal score for Qatar Airways at Manila Airport check-in desk is 8/10.
Seen larger wardrobes then this place. Unreliable wifi and minimal food selection
Crapy lounge with crappy wifi connection.
