Buga-buga Hill is located around 2 kilometers away from the Ormoc-Villaba Highway. It is located in Brgy. Buga-buga, Villaba, Leyte. Once one of the bloodiest battle arenas in the Island of Leyte during the 2nd World War in 1941-1945. Before the fall of Battan and Corrigedor to the Japanese Troops that made way to the infamous Bataan Death March, an order from the US demanded/ordered General Douglas McArthur to escape through Australia leaving General Wainright IV In-charged of the whole Asia Pacific American and Filipino soldiers fighting and holding on with their lives in the abandoned Battle Arena. General Douglas McArthur however vowed during this infamous escape and utter the words "I shall return...". This lines however was fulfilled in the day of October 20, 1944 when General McArthur together with a Massive Allied Fleet with him landed in the gulf of Leyte and other landing areas in almos all of the Eastern Sea boards of Luzon, Samar and Leyte. This invasion forces puts pressure to the Japanese troops in Leyte. As the Allied Offensive together with our Guerilla Units in Leyte pushed the Japanese troops Westward since Majoriry of the Allied forces started its offensive in the eastern part of Leyte. As the result, Japanese troops managed to dig in and fortified Buga-buga Hill in Villaba, Leyte as its last stance of Defense in the Island of Leyte. The defensive was headed by General Zuzuki and called all Japanese troops to zero in ans focus their defense in Buga-buga Hill... As the Japaense troops retreated ro Buga-buga Hill in the West, they however managed to lay down traps, blow bridges and roads that made it difficult for Allied Forces to speed up their advances... Meanwhile, in Villaba, Matag.ob and Palompon area, desperate Japanese Soldiers during those times started killing almost every Filipino they see due to fear of them being member of the Guerilla Units who intensified ambushing small Japanese patrol units upon hearing the news that McArthur and a Massive Allied Units are on its way to liberate the whole Island of Leyte. In the late 1944 and early 1945, Buga-buga Hill and neighboring areaz around it became a mountain blood bath for both Japanese Forces, Filipino And American Soldiers who fought til the last stand of General Zuzuki and all its Japanese Forces in Leyte.

This is a remarkable destination that totally depicts a 100% true adventure. The passage to the peak lies between two towering limestone walls clinged with creeping flora and toppled tress. For me, it seems that I am in a set of adventure films like Jurrasic Park or Journey to the Center of the Earth.
