Beautiful abbey in Melek. We sailed Sateczkirm on the Dujan from Krems, admiring the surrounding area on both sides of the river and gradually on the left a beautiful huge building springs up. There is something to visit

Worth a visit. recommend The parish was separated from the parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and erected by bp. Henryka Gulbinowicza June 25, 1973 The first parish priest was Fr. Czesław Łogutko. An independent vicar's office of the parish parish operated from 1960 at the existing church. The present Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was built as an Orthodox church next to the tsarist barracks of the 64th Kazan Infantry Regiment after 1888. Before that, there was the Kolonia estate, the owners of which - the Kryński family - were deported to Siberia after 1863 as part of repression for participating in the January Uprising. The brick building of the church referred to the style of Old Russian buildings with its external architectural design. During World War I, in 1915, the temple was heavily damaged. After Poland regained independence, the barracks were taken over by the Polish army of the 42 Infantry Regiment, while the ruined church was handed over to the Catholic Church. Thanks to the efforts of the clergy and the help of the army, in 1927 the remains of the church were converted into a Catholic church, which was given the invocation of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It served both the army as a garrison church and the local population. Military chaplains carried out ministry here. During World War II, the temple building was badly damaged again. After the end of hostilities, the church was handed over to the Catholic diocesan clergy. It was rebuilt by Rev. Aleksander Syczewski, who also renovated and rebuilt one house in the square next to the temple, and built another one from scratch. Alumni of the Seminary lived in these buildings for many years. Father Syczewski also conducted court trials with the state authorities of the People's Republic of Poland for many years to save the church and the entire property. Thanks to his stubbornness, the temple and the area around it remained the property of the diocese. At present, there is also a parish there. The church was consecrated on October 30, 1994 by Archbishop Stanisław Szymecki.
