The castle in Uniejów was built in the years 1360–1365 on the site of an old wooden castle, destroyed by the Teutonic Knights in 1331. The castle was initially a defensive structure and later a residence of bishops. It was rebuilt many times and completely lost its Gothic features. In 1836, the Russian tsar donated to General Karol Toll from Estonia for his services in suppressing the November Uprising. His son Alexander Toll in 1848 rebuilt in the romantic style. In the years 1956-1967 the castle was restored, currently it houses a hotel with a conference center and a restaurant.
