A beautiful monument

A beautiful wooden church with a renovated altar (triptych from 1603) is worth visiting this place! Smarchowice Śląskie is the place of my birth!

Another wooden gem on the border of the pre-war Reich and Wielkopolska. I do not know whether post-German or pro-Polish from earlier times. In the interior of the cemetery, a barbarian altar, a stone altar (?) From the tombstones of the inhabitants of this town from 100-150 years ago. The church is beautifully presented in the spring sun. As for now, I do not know, but probably "so beautiful" judging by fairly subdued stained glass windows.

The first mention of the church comes from 1580. The church we see today was built entirely of wood on a brick foundation in 1603. Since then, it has undergone extensive renovation works several times. The last renovation was recorded in 2003. The single-nave church has a carcass construction. Oriented - presbytery facing east. A gable roof covered with wooden shingles, in its central part there is a wooden tower with a four-sided plan, covered with a pyramid-shaped roof. Inside, a late Renaissance triptych has been preserved in the main altar, dating from 1603, with a scene of Christ's crucifixion. You can also admire baroque sculptures depicting the Virgin Mary and St. John the Evangelist, as well as the cross and brass Empire usurers.
