Information on the Internet and in all guides will invite you from 10:00. We set up the whole day, we came to the opening - the Lord jumped out and said sorry, but we invite you today from 12:00. Well, ok - we made a plan for visiting Zamość - we came back at 12:00. 12:05 - closed. We are watching the photo exhibition outside - suddenly an organized guided tour enters through the gate. The synagogue opens, the organized trip is packed inside and a note appears on the counter that the maximum number of people is currently in the museum. Please come back later.
At the door confused people waiting for the opening, they also thought that from 10:00 am but ok, they are waiting, for example, in a nearby cafe. We continue to look at the photos. Another guided tour appears at the gate.
You can see what's up.
I have reasons to believe that if you are not set up with a guide, you visit individually, you must be very lucky to get there.
And you put your eye on your non-fiscal compulsory, obligatory ticket-offering-like-donations!
The rating is for the organization in general and not for the museum as such - how can you treat people outside the door this way? We were not allowed to visit the interior, I clicked the door handle twice, and for the third attempt we ran out of patience and time.
Nice and tidy place. Inside, during my stay, you could read the stories of ghetto children who now, as adults, told their stories. Interesting, it's true, but I think there should be more information about the ruined building next door. It interested me very much, and the only information about it was what function it performed and why (private property) it could not be renovated. Very nice service.
The exhibition makes a shocking impression, especially when comparing the number of victims of Auschwitz, 1.1 million to Treblinka, almost 0.9 million. This photo of a Jewish woman that I took from behind a fence in the form of a menorah came out surprisingly. The kehilla house should be bought back and renovated, otherwise it loses its sense ... It is good that there is this plaque explaining the situation of the kehilla, because it looks as if the funds ran out before the end of revitalization.
Unfortunately only 3 *. Inside, there is actually nothing interesting except space for the track. Everywhere there are photos of pre-war Jewish families. The situation is somewhat saved by electronic boards with information about the history of Jews in the Zamość and Lublin regions. The guide probably shows only organized groups. Even suggestions that we can pay extra for him to tell about this place were refused. Compared to the Nożyk Synagogue in Warsaw, it is very, very little to see. A place with potential, but now rather a waste of time and money.
A place steeped in the 400-year-old history of Zamość residents.
