The wooden church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Silesian Town near Tarnowskie Góry is an expression of reverence shown to Our Lady by our ancestors. Over 100 years after the foundation of the Silesian Town, its residents attended a church in Żyglin.
The own church in the Silesian Town was built only in 1666. Next to the church was a cemetery used until 1815, and the only entrance to the building was through the belfry.
From July 1871, the church was looked after by Father Teodor Christoph, who founded the Brotherhood of the Apostolate of Prayer and the Brotherhood of the MB of Sorrows. In addition, he built a presbytery here and bought a new, gothic altar.
In the twentieth century, the temple was restored twice, and from 1928 is considered a historic building. The church in the Silesian Town is located on the Wooden Architecture Trail of the Silesian Voivodeship. Next to it is a magnificent stone temple.
