Neat graves.

On the one hand overwhelming, if you explore the stories and events related to this place in 1939-1940. Sad that there are too many such places, when it comes to their character ... In addition, the surroundings are very picturesque, really good for long walks and contemplation. A large forest area, despite numerous guests, it is worth coming and looking for your corner.

Zakrzewo Graves - a complex of graves of World War II victims in a forest area near the village of Zakrzewo (Dopiewo commune). According to available sources, it is known that in the years 1939-1945 mass executions of Polish citizens took place here. The bodies were buried in the pits forming collective graves. At the end of the war, the Germans exhumed and then burned the bodies of the murdered. In order to cover the traces, the pits were filled in and a young forest was planted in this place. As a result of the research carried out in this area, after the war, only the remains of human bones were excavated and a few places where there were mass graves were found. The graves were hit by accident - the forest began to collapse at the burial sites. The identity and the exact number of victims have not been established so far. It is concluded that it could have been from 6,000 to 8,000 Poles. The place of their martyrdom is commemorated by a group of mass graves. The places of execution are connected by the yellow hiking trail on the section from Dąbrówka to Zakrzew, as well as by a bicycle trail (partially). There are information boards on the route. The graves are located in three places: graves of priests (in the southern part of the forest complex), the headquarters with crosses and a sandstone memorial plaque with the following content: Place sanctified by the martyr's blood of Poles murdered by the Nazis during the occupation 1939-1945. It plants. Above the grave, a monument by Ryszard Skupin from 1971 with quotes from the poems of Władysław Broniewski: You must be able to die beautifully / Look at the barrels erected boldly / until the vile will amaze and fear / until the rumble of the old people is silent and Poland - to do / Poland - to live / Working in trudzie i znoju / Poland can fight well / but Poland wants peace. A separate inscription reads: In these forests, the Nazi occupier carried out mass executions of Polish citizens, including a large group of students from the University of Poznań. In addition to the above, at the forester's lodge in Zakrzewo, a commemorative stone was erected with the following content: Passer-by! Tell the Poles that in these forests of Zakrzewo and Paldzia, the Nazi occupiers murdered and burned thousands of Poles.
