Fantastic open air museum showcasing the material culture of Mennonite settlers who arrived in Poland in early sixteenth century and created distinct identity in the Polish country life.
Original artefacts beautifully arranged in two meticulously rebuilt holdings (all buildings moved from their original sites and recreated stone by stone, plank by plank), plus a rare Mennonite cemetery (which is in it's original site, of course!)
Guides are very knowledgeable and bring a lot of life to descriptions, and soon full time English interpretation will be available.
Much recommended.
Outstanding collection of Mennonite buildings. Beautifully preserved, full of original furnishings and great attention to detail. Really fascinating to learn about this small group from Holland that once lived here in Poland...before WWII changed everything. The staff are excellent, particularly Andrzej who was funny, incredibly informative and clearly very passionate about the place. He also spoke realy good English. Highly recommended.
Great place, silent
If we hadn't stayed at the "Olender" hotel in Wielka Nieszawka, we would certainly not have met this wonderful place.
I admit that I, and the rest of our group, had not learned this interesting story about newcomers from the Netherlands, who, based on their experience, regulated water courses and more ...
Three different homesteads deserve attention. But ... I won't write about it anymore ;-)
You have to see it.
I would like to add that in every pen there are ladies who comprehensively describe the stories from those times.
I guarantee that no one will be disappointed. I recommend.
A very nice discovery! Interesting objects in an exceptionally charming surroundings. A big plus for cats: -) !!! It's a pity that hardly anyone in Toruń has heard about the park, not to mention foreign tourists. I had the opportunity to visit the park with an English-speaking partner. To our very pleasant surprise, we were assigned an English-speaking guide, Mr. Adam, who also turned out to be a historian by training and a real mine of knowledge. Both me and my partner were impressed by the competence and personality of Mr. Adam. Thank you very much for such nice and professional service. We'll be back in a while!
