In Werbkowice, on the site of a Uniate temple from 1690, st. Michael the Archangel, a new Uniate church was erected in 1864 by Count Antoni Szydłowski. When the Uniate diocese of Chełm was liquidated, the building was taken over by the Russian Orthodox Church. On August 15, 1919, the character of the Roman Catholic church was restored, and on November 7, Bishop Marian Fulman erected the parish. In the 1930s the church was rebuilt by removing the decorations in the eastern rite. In the main altar there is a painting of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, while in the side ones: the Sacred Heart of Jesus and St. Antoni. When in 1997 the inhabitants of Werbkowice already had a new temple, they did not forget about this old church.
