If you are tired of enjoying your stay in Gdansk, why not take a ride on a tram? Almost all of the drivers are extremely unfriendly and behave like they own the city (or at least the tram). Imagine you want to take the tram from the beach to the city, but there is no ticket machine. You could ask the driver for tickets, but you have to be prepared by having the correct amount of money. The driver does not need to give money in return.
But even with the money it not guaranteed that you get a ticket. If the driver is in a bad mood (happens often), he just ignores you. No matter if you ask in English or Polish.
Some of them feel interrupted in their work and insult you and say you should leave the tram and get tickets somewhere else.
Better buy a batch of tickets before and you can let the driver do what he can do best: Insulting pedestrians and ring the bell when they are too slow.
And do not interrupt him when the tran is already late and he is in a hurry. One of the drivers even peed at the tram at the last station.
All in all a catastrophe. One of the last remaining adventures :)
Arrival on Sunday morning by plane at the airport. No small cash, of course. Ticket machine completely out of order. Driver at 10.30 refuses to sell two tickets to the city center and change 50 PLZ, even if he definitely has enough change money. The same with other tourists. So we needed to go back to the airport, change our 50 and return to the bus station. 210 gone, meanwhile. So sit for one whole hour more at the airport and wait for the next bus. Nazi-Driver! Hates people from abroad like diseases. Should get fired immediately. Unbelievable story. Welcome to Poland, welcome to Gdansk! Be prepared for such a welcome by this bus carrier! A shame for this country.
Gdańsk public transport is a massacre. Buses or trams are still late, drivers probably not all but some of them are rudeness to the square.
Is it that hard to give more courses or at least change the course schedule a bit? On Świętokrzyska, at the Niepołomicka stop, it is often the case that several buses arrive at the same time. Instead of properly planning these buses, it has been like that for several years. MASACRA, MASACRA and again MASACRA.
If it were possible I would give 0 stars. How is it that ZTM in cities such as Poznań, Warsaw or Wrocław is constantly working on improving public transport, and in Gdańsk for at least 12 years the same 3 buses have been going to Osowa? This is a joke. There are known failures, buses break down, so it's no wonder that passengers wait up to an hour at the stop, with so many connections and journeys. Just hopeless, I thought it would get better one day, but from year to year, with each visit, nothing but disappointment. I wonder if I will live to see the times when Osowa will be an accessible and well-connected district.
Today, 10.05.20, the tram driver from tram number 2 leaving the tram terminus in Oliwa (14:56) at the stop: Piastowska (15:04) stopped, but did not open the door. Despite the requests addressed to him and pressing the button himself (although he should open it) at the next stop he opened normally, but he did not answer the questions. There was no contact with him. What was it about? A few people besides me wanted to get off and told the driver to open. Other people commented on the incident, and he seemed to live in a different world. He walked off the bus stop normally as if nothing had happened. Do we pay for it? Attention, it is better not to get on the tram, because you can be kept in it against your will. To be honest I was afraid of a worse thing, I didn't know if it would open the next time and whether I would have to make up for a longer way back. Would a mentally healthy person do this? I have concerns about who you employ. If anyone answers the phone, it will be explained, I am not afraid, because everything is visible on the cameras, so for those who want nothing difficult, but they often make it difficult to know that something may turn out to be true. The plates with the driver number work once and once they don't. Does something look like it should in public transport?
