The port crane was probably built in 1367, while the current shape was due to the fire that destroyed the wooden structure. The brick building with a protruding crane part over the Motława water dates from the mid-15th century. After World War II, it was rebuilt once again. Like the Neptune from the fountain at Dlugi Targ, the Crane is the most recognizable buildings of Gdańsk.
