Beautiful Gdansk

Prussian Babies are stone statues, the history of which probably dates back to the Middle Ages. 4 statues are located in front of the Archaeological Museum in Gdańsk, from the Motława side. Their function and origin are unknown. They were found in the lands formerly inhabited by Prussian tribes, conquered in the 13th century by the Teutonic Order. The first mentions of "women" come from the beginning of the 18th century. The statues are up to one and a half meters high and represent, contrary to the name, figures of men. Their facial features are roughly marked, they hold a horn (a ritual drinking vessel) in their right hand, and sometimes a sword or a cleaver in their left hand. Some do not have the attributes of a warrior, their hands are folded in a cross on their chest. My photos are from 2008, now access to the stones is limited (they have been fenced off). I RECOMMEND :)
