Exactly 76 years after the destruction of the Landsberg synagogue, an obelisk commemorating its existence was unveiled at the corner of Łazienki and Spichrzowa Streets. The 1.5 m high granite boulder is adorned with a laconic, bilingual inscription "Synagogue" and the dates of its creation and burning (1854-1938). The Society of Gorzów Enthusiasts contributed to the erection of the monument, the same, thanks to which a number of sculptures commemorating figures related to the local history can be seen in the city (Jancarz, Szymon Gięta, Korcz, Henseler, Zacharek). She helped raise funds, among others youth from High School No. 1 Pushkin by carrying out a fundraiser during the simulations of the UN meeting organized at the school. This fact is noteworthy, because PuszMUN - (Pushkin Model United Nations) annually gathers representatives of young people from all over Europe (up to 500 people) and - although their financial contribution was rather symbolic (one zloty, euro or hryvnia each) - the action it had a historical dimension in a sense. The Landsberg synagogue was impressive. It was built in the Byzantine style on the site of an earlier temple. It could accommodate about 300 worshipers. It was destroyed during Kristallnacht (Reichskristallnacht) on November 9-10, 1938. The ruins of the burned-out building survived in the city until the post-war 1950s, when, at the request of the authorities, they were demolished and a four-story residential building was erected in their place. Today, members of the residential community, to commemorate the history of this place, have given up a part of their lawn, on which the described obelisk has just been placed. As the Bible book of Ecclesiastes says, "there is a time to throw stones and a time to collect them." In a place where time and memory have obliterated all traces of a long history, a new commemorative stone has just appeared
