DOMINICAN. GIDLE - a town near Częstochowa, known as a pilgrimage center. There are two churches here: - Dominican (monastery) church - the parish church (without the monastery) - formerly the Carthusians, - wooden church. Three churches in one town and a half and a half ... Dominican monastery church. Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (built in the years 1640-1655). It is a Marian sanctuary of Our Lady of Gidle. It has been in existence since 1615. The Dominican monastery in Gidle As the only one in Poland, it survived the times of the Russian partition. The interior of the church is richly decorated, equipment 18th century. It should be remembered that the patroness of the Dominicans is Our Lady of the Rosary. The most important object, the center of worship, is a tiny (9 cm) stone sculpture - a statue of the Virgin Mary from 1516, placed in a rich, rococo altar, crowned in 1923 (on "Złota Górka" - where today there is a chapel with a copy of the Miraculous Figurine) . Among the faithful there are opinions that the Blessed Mother of Jasna Góra is mainly a physician of souls (of conversion), and of Gidel (of Dominicans) - a physician of bodies (heals and even resurrects). Commonly known symbols of this sanctuary are: "gidle wine" (miraculous, healing) and "baths" (every year, on the first Sunday of May, there is an indulgence and "baths" - a ceremonial transfer to the nearby Calvary in a feretory and immersion of a miraculous figure in wine). Thanks to this, the sanctuary is called Gidle "little Częstochowa". Baths are known in many Catholic countries, especially in Spain and Italy. The strange name of the town is said to come from the surname Gidziela (occurring only in the Częstochowa region), the village was formerly called Gidziele / Gidźle / Gidzielice. I think it should be changed - "I'm going to Gidźla / Gidli", but the form "... to Gidel" was adopted.

A beautiful sanctuary famous for miracles of healing. In the mornings on weekdays from 6.30 mass after mass. Possibility of confession and receiving communion. Beautiful road of the cross in the monastery park. Large parking lot under surveillance, toilets, good access. A place pampered by the Religious Brothers from the monastery set in one architectural block with the Basilica. I recommend highly. God bless.
