I was captivated by the simplicity and beauty of this place. A charm that causes reflection and reflection. It is worth stopping at least for a moment and getting off the speeding train called WORLD RECOMMENDED

The church Wojciech and MB Śnieżna (16th century), with baroque furnishings. The origin of the oldest monument in Mikołów dates back to the 16th century, although some say it dates from 1270-80. It was built in the place of the previous church from the 13th century, of wooden construction, which was demolished due to its terrible technical condition. It is believed that the first church could serve as the basis for the construction of a new temple and most of the stone walls could be added to it. Unfortunately, this is not exactly to be learned due to the loss of the entire city archive during the great fire of the city in 1794. Probably the sacred building described could have a wood-stone structure, as it is in the case of the church in Gliwice-Ostropa, but none of the local historians is able to confirm these assumptions. The church is a single-nave, late gothic building with blurred style features. In comparison with baroque wooden churches in nearby Paniów or in Borowa Wieś, the church of Our Lady of the Snows has modest equipment or rather what is left of it. Attention will definitely attract: the Baroque main altar with the figure of St. Wojciech, patron of the city of Mikołów - from 1675, a stoup located in the vestibule of the side entrance from the 15th century, carved in sandstone in the form of a cup. In the sacristy door opening, the original late gothic door with a wooden door frame and still operating late gothic door lock are still attached to the door frames, to which the original keys are still in use. It is also worth taking a closer look at the three side altars from the Baroque era: the first of them from 1701, with the image of the Virgin Mary with the Child, painted by Aleksander Radwański, the second dedicated to St. Antoni Padewski and the third, which is decorated with sculptures of St. Catherine, Barbara and Saint. Andrew, as well as the image of St. Barbara, the most common saint figure in Upper Silesia - dating from the eighteenth century. In the history of the church, its fate weighed several times, not only because of the time of world wars, and for the economic reasons of the city at the time. In the 1930s, the decision of the then town councilors was made to demolish the temple due to the cost of maintaining it, and the use of today's smaller basilica. Fortunately, demolition was abandoned.

Church of St. Wojciech and Our Lady of the Snows, colloquially called the old church, it is the oldest preserved church in Mikołów. The first church was built in the years 1260-1270, it was rebuilt in the late Gothic style. Until the construction of a new church, he wore only Saint. Adalbert. At the time of consecration on September 25, 1861, the new building was both churches. St. Adalbert. This state lasted until the sixties of the twentieth century, when the old church was added the second call, Our Lady of the Snows, worshiped in Mikołów as Our Lady Mikolowska. Żródło.Wkipedia.
