The church from outside as such. Interesting wooden belfry near the church.

St. Martin in Paczyna originally belonged to the diocese of Wrocław, then to the diocese of Opole, from which it was excluded in 1992 and incorporated into the newly erected diocese of Gliwice. The history of Paczyna dates back to the 12th century. In the visit documents of the diocese of Wrocław, a mention was made of the existence of the church in Paczyna as early as 1274. The church was partly wooden and partly brick (chancel and sacristy). There was a wooden belfry next to the church (preserved until today). According to the list of the collects of the Wrocław diocese from 1310, the parish in Paczyna had 82 Catholics. In the inspection records from 1335, it is listed as an independent parish with its own parish priest, church and a branch church in Pniów. On the other hand, the inspection files from 1679 mention Paczyna as a branch of the Pniów parish. It is not known when and why Paczyna ceased to be a parish. The services were held alternately in Paczyna and Pniów. Probably both parishes were reunited in 1678. From 1738 the church in Pniów was again listed as a branch of the parish in Paczyna. In the years 1864-66 the then parish priest, Fr. Spyra built a new rectory, as the old wooden box made of clay was no longer suitable for living. On April 27, 1931, the last service was held in the old church. After the service, it was demolished with the permission of the secular and church authorities. It was decided to build a new temple in its place. Its design was made by the architect T. Ehl from Bytom. Thanks to the generosity of the faithful and the commitment of the parish priest, Fr. Karol Schittko, the work was completed in a short time. Part of the equipment of the old church was moved to the new temple. On November 8, 1931, Card. Adolf Bertram consecrated it. The parish church in Paczyna is built of brick on stone and brick foundations, and is plastered. Built on an elongated rectangular plan with a semicircular closure of the presbytery. It is a three-nave basilica with narrow aisles and a shallow chancel closed with a semicircular apse. The main nave was covered with a barrel vault pierced by four lunettes on each side. The lunettes have double, narrow, high windows. The apse is covered with a hemispherical vault (which is a quarter of a sphere), illuminated by a row of narrow windows. The main nave of the church is covered with a gable roof, and the side aisles are shed. A rectangular tower with an octagonal top covered with a domed cupola is embedded in the western part of the church. At the opposite end of the ridge there is a transparent octagonal turret. The main portal, rectangular in shape, closed in a semicircular shape at the top, is located in the west facade. There is a circular rosette above the portal. In 1975, the Bishop of Opole, Franciszek Jop, allowed the Claretian Missionaries to establish a religious house in Paczyna. From that moment the Missionaries took over the pastoral care of the parish.
