Church The Holy Spirit The affiliate church. The Holy Spirit is in the village of Czarnowo in the commune of Kozielice. It is located in the central point of the village, near the PKS bus stop. The first mention of Czarnów comes from the 10th-11th century as a stronghold of the Pyrzyczan tribe. According to legend, the first owner of the settlement was the knight Blankenburg, who built a castle there, which was destroyed in time. The lands of today's Czarnów were adjacent to Brandenburg, so they were often the object of invasions and destruction. From 1322 the village belonged to the city of Pyrzyce. Her earlier names were Chernov and Cerno. After the destruction during the Thirty Years' War, it began to be rebuilt from 1647, but a church was already built in the village. The creation of the church in Czarnów dates back to the beginning of the 17th century. In 1601, an oriented temple was built in the center of the village, built on the plan of an elongated rectangle. It was built of field stones covered with lime mortar. The roof of the temple from the nave was gabled, covered with tiles. At the end of the eighteenth century, the church was renovated and plastered, but did not lose its original shape and construction. The dates of the creation and renovation of the temple are evidenced by the dates 1601 and 1750, which can still be seen on the southern facade of the monument, where the entrance was once located. It is now bricked up. Further changes in the temple were made in 1696, when a wooden tower was added to the church, changed several dozen years later to a brick tower. This tower exists to modern times. It is a tower consisting of five floors with a square section, at the top is topped with a lantern with a baroque helmet. The tower is currently the only available entrance to the temple. Inside the temple it is worth paying attention to: wooden ceiling, beamed, altar and pulpit from the 18th century and benches from the 19th century. The church is located on a square surrounded by a 2.5-meter stone wall with a brick roof, i.e. a one-roof roof covering the church's fence. From the south side the wall is brick. The square on which the church stands, like many places of this type in the old days, was also a cemetery, as evidenced by the tombstones preserved to this day in its western part. Several decades of lime trees grow around the walls surrounding the church. From 1946, the church was dedicated to the Holy Spirit by Fr. Stanisław Koszarek from the Christ Society. Currently, the church is located within the Roman Catholic parish. Our Lady Help of Christians in Banie, in the deanery of Banie. Holy Masses take place on Sunday at 9.45 and on Wednesdays at 17.00.
