It is an Orthodox chapel, erected at the end of the 19th century at the corner of the present A. Waszkiewicza Street and Zaułka Osoczników Street, i.e. in the former village of Stoczek - now the Białowieża district. The chapel at that time marked one of the ends of the village of Stoczek (the opposite end reached around the current Zaułek Bartników). Shortly after World War II, it was decided to move it to its present place. The founder of the chapel was Jakim Bajko from Białowieża - a train driver who led the first train to Białowieża in 1897.
